Could robots do surgery on animals?

Joseph Whitaker School

It is true that robots can do more precise movements which means that smaller cuts, which could be life-saving for the animals under surgery, as they generally have smaller organs than us, meaning that if a cut is too large, it can lead to that organ failing. On the other hand, it would allow a smaller cut to be made to insert the robot, which could result in less blood loss and a decrease in the likely hood of the wound getting infection, making it more likely for the animal to survive. WARNING: Contains human insides.

Negatives of robotic surgery

Joseph Whitaker School

Although there are many benefits of robotic surgery, there are also some negatives. For example, if the arm jammed, then it would be extremely hard to loosen them again without harming the tissues. Even if there was no sharp blade attached to the end, whatever was on the end would probably catch and pull some of the tissues, damaging/breaking them. WARNING: Contains human insides

What are the benefits of robots doing surgery?

Joseph Whitaker School

Robot surgery is good because it allows more precise movements to be done, which means that it is easier for intricate cuts to be made. As well as this, it means that only a small hole will need to be cut into the skin, which means that it is less likely to get infected, allowing it to heal faster. Also, it allows you to go deeper inside the body, without disrupting as many organs, causing less damage. WARNING: Contains human insides!

The task completing robot Asimo!

Joseph Whitaker School

This is Asimo. This robot is made by Honda and can do various tasks. The most basic things he can do is walk jump and hop. Not only this but he can pour drinks and serve penalties. Imagine what he could do with even more engineering from Honda.

manufacturing

Joseph Whitaker School

Robots are used in manufacturing all the time this is because they can make things faster and safer, than what a human can, also the cost of using robots is far cheaper than humans, also the quality of the end product is higher with a robot.

Making your own rising arm barrier

Joseph Whitaker School

To ensure that we could fully complete the challenges, we designed our own rising arm barrier with one of our damaged EV3 controllers - Ask Fern! This allows our group to work with the complete context of the challenge.

17 seconds to complete the b/w line loop!

Joseph Whitaker School

Fern, Olivia and Cara have worked hard to produce their line following car. 17s for a reliable run around the whole loop! Think this may the fastest time. Anyone any faster?
